Driving through the heat to Redding

 Day 47: July 9, 2021

We head to Redding

A short post today: Driving through the Trinity-Shasta Forest and mountains that seemed to just go up and up…we finally arrive in Redding. Temperatures were in the mid-70s when we left Eureka but as soon as we approached the first pass, they were in the low 80s and continued to slowly climb. Coming down into Redding the car thermometer showed 111F. Ugh. We closed the windows in the truck and turned on the AC when it hit 104F.

Other than that, we prioritized getting the AC going in the RoadHouse when we got set up at the Mountain‘s Gate Cabins & RV Park. It was a “pay attention” type of drive through the mountains and we didn’t stop for very many photos. Here’s what we have:

Shasta River

Whiskeytown Lake

Tomorrow: we get up early to try to beat the heat and head to Mt Lassen. Stay tuned!
