Michigan

 September 13: Birthday Week: Michigan!

Early evening on the lagoon, Bay City SP

On the road again: We’re keeping it by the water this week in That State Up North, starting with camping in Bay City State Park, right on Saginaw Bay (Lake Huron).

After a long slow slog through I-75 construction in and north of Detroit (MAJOR reconstruction going on!), we drove through quite the thunderstorm. Reduced visibility and lots of fast wipers! Little did we know at that time that we would encounter more rain later…

We somehow didn’t manage to get to the market before we left so there was a lot lacking in our dinner…Costco hot dogs and the last two buns…I specialize in artistic application of French’s yellow mustard…but then we went north to the shore of Saginaw Bay and walked around until we got drenched (DRENCHED) by more rain…we were SO WET.

This blue plastic “carpet” was laid on the sand and made it as easy to walk on as  a paved sidewalk!

This Lake Huron beach was really nice—clean sand, no rocks, clean beach.

Looks like a power plant on the horizon…reminds me of Ashtabula!

Look up….loved the colors of the berries and red stems

Cormorant and ducks

Lagoon…we got soaked within five minutes of taking this one…

Last shot of the lagoon before getting drenched. Kinda cool. (I’m nearly dry now!)

Tomorrow: hang out in the Bay, Bay City, that is; then head to Traverse City. Life is good. Stay tuned.
